BIEN + Only Today - Quad Life Documentary
Quad Life is the most personal project we’ve ever worked on.
David Jeffers is our friend. Ricardo (our EP) has known him since seventh grade. Now, he's also our colleague and collaborator. He’s a quadriplegic sound designer. We introduced him to motion design years ago, and he quickly became a part of the team—not just as a creative, but as our go-to disability consultant and sounding board.
This documentary started as a way to help tell David’s story. At first, it was focused on accessibility—like the everyday frustrations of finding a parking spot. But after our first shoots in Charlotte and New York, we knew the story had to go way deeper. It became about resilience, identity, and the challenges disabled creatives face in an industry that often overlooks them.
We worked on Quad Life for three years—entirely self-funded—because we believed in it. BIEN handled the design and animation, while our partners at Only Today led the live-action production. David handled the sound design, mix, and master himself. His fingerprint is on every frame, especially the animated scenes where we had to represent the accident and its aftermath with care.
Our goal is simple: help get David more work, and help more people see what disabled creatives have to offer. This film is our way of showing—not just telling—that talent, perspective, and artistry aren’t limited by ability.
We’re super proud of this doc. It came from the heart. Hope you like it as much as we do.
