Curry on Curry

Google and Portal A had a bold idea: what happens when you pit the greatest shooter in NBA history against the most powerful AI on Earth? Spoiler: it gets competitive.

Of course, throwing Curry into the ring with Gemini is one thing. Capturing his likeness with accuracy, style, and speed? That’s where BIEN stepped onto the court.

Portal A hit us up with a spicy brief: they couldn’t license NBA footage, so they asked us to recreate Curry's signature moves as animation b-roll. The kicker is, they wouldn’t know which shots they needed until the edit came together... just four weeks before the deadline. Traditional character animation workflow requires a locked script and boards eight weeks before production starts, so yeah, we knew that wasn’t gonna fly.

Our solve? Unreal Engine. We built a Steph replica so clean, even his momma might do a double take. Real-time tweaks, authentic signature movements, and no-look 3s, fully on point. With the help of the AI motion capture tool QuickMagic, we were able to get close to true Curry actions quickly before deciding on which ones to fine-tune. No sweat. (Okay, a little sweat.)

Google provided the logo lockup and art direction, and we were responsible for the animation and graphics toolkit based on that. To fit within the social-first strategy, the look had to feel lo-fi, but also on-brand enough to fit within the Google Cloud universe.

The result? 55 million views. 99% positive sentiment. And a digital Steph who might just dunk on you in your dreams.
