Lenovo - Anatomy Of The Artist Brain
When Portal A and Lenovo approached us to collaborate on Anatomy of the Artist Brain—a branded content film by Gawx Art—they had an ambitious vision AND a crazy intense timeline. Gawx, a renowned Mexican artist and content creator, had brought together six artists from across the globe to explore the inner workings of the creative mind. Our role? Illustrate and animate six distinct sequences that reflected each artist’s unique voice—all while racing against a tight deadline and unifying wildly different visual languages. A challenge, but one we leapt at to solve!
BIEN served as the animation partner for the project, crafting a different approach for each sequence. For artists like Ricardo Cavolo and Liana Finck, we animated their signature illustration styles—bringing their static artworks to life with care and respect. For others, we conducted inclusive research to discover and honor their visual voice through bespoke motion design.
From cel animation to collage to 2D/3D hybrid techniques, this project gave our team room to flex chops across disciplines, adapting not just to aesthetics, but to tone and personality. The goal was never to overpower, but to amplify each artist’s creative intent—bringing Lenovo’s celebration of creative minds to life in motion.
The final film explores the question “How does the artist brain work?” and has already reached over 2.5 million viewers. It’s been recognized as a finalist in the Shorty, Webby, and Digiday Awards. Gawx and the featured artists were super hype to see their work in motion—many for the first time. For BIEN, the project marked an evolution of branded content for social and influencers, proving that premium craft can meet the pace of global storytelling.
